After 48 hours of pure fun, Evoke 2016 had to close it´s doors on last Sunday!
An all-time high of 490 visitors saw great compos with numerous and amazing releases. We celebrated demoscene with great DJs and live acts each evening and so much more that makes Evoke such a special place.
A big thank you to everyone who made this event possible!
We are happy to announce our 20th anniversary party next year from 18th till 20th of August and would like to see all of you next year!
Evoke is live! Everything is built up and even the first visitors are here.
If you would like to follow the party we have set up a live coverage page for your pleasure.
This year we will stream our events with twitch (see a schedule there). Beneath that we have some official twittering by us plus your thought on the party (use the #evoke2016 hashtag). In addition the page features the upcoming events from the timetable plus #evoke2016 photos from Instagram.Â
And don't forget to add our ical calendar to your favorite calendaring software to keep up with what is happening at Evoke. We will try our best to update it when bigger delays should occur.Â
Let the world know about the Evoke spirit!
Posts and images tagged this way might show up on our social media wall (the small screen on the right side of the main screen). So do posts to the pouet oneliner (find out) or to our irc channel.
Compos are there so you can show off your talents and compete with your scene peers. But it's also about taking something home! This year we have some intriguing goodies to distribute among the winners besides the usual cash prizes. HarikaZen, the Amiga ascii t-shirt label, give out some of their cool shirts. Data Airlines, the Swedish/French chip music label, donates rare tape and CD copies of the latest albums by Goto80 and Dubmood. And finally, our musical guest Remute chips in with a few copies of "Bear", his brandnew 7" vinyl. Now get on with your entries!
The HarikaZen team will be present at Evoke 2016. Just like last year, they have some prizes to give away and some special offers during the party.
Participate in one of the graphics competition categories Ansi/Ascii and/or Pixel, and have the chance to win a kit with a voucher for a t-shirt of your choice and a bundle of stickers. Â You can claim your prize either at the party place (while stock lasts), or online through our webshop.
For everyone else: The code EVOKE2016 gives you 15% off your order at shop.harikazen.com. This promotion is valid throughout 9th August - 16th August 2016.
If you plan to visit Evoke, and place an order any time before or latest during saturday night, you can get it personally delivered to the party place, perhaps by a man in disguised as a camel, who most definitely will also throw in a free gift!
A winner is you! \o/
You are welcome to visit the HarikaZen stand at the party place to browse their products during the weekend. We might just have a surprise for you!Â
As every year, we present you with a line-up of DJs and live acts dedicated to keeping you dancing when there are no compos to witness. This year, we are very hapy to announce that Remute, Glxblt, H7, Dojoe vs. Bombe, and Black Maiden Hi-Fi will be with us. Read here for more info.
Sos Sosowski, creator of Moshpit Simulator and MCPIXEL, one of the most known activists of the Polish game & indie scene will join Evoke for some serious seminar on making retro games in the future - and whether, how and how exactly they are related to the scene.
If you loved Stornos appearances at Evoke we guess that you shouldn´t miss out on SOS!
Making retro games in the future, or can games be demoscene?
Saturday, 16:00 Seminar Room on second level

The unofficial preparty Prevoke is happening in 2016 again!
Just like the last years those of you who arrive on Thursday already can gather at the Chaos Computer Club hacker space in Ehrenfeld to chat and have a beer. There is even an option to sleep there.
Take a look at the Prevoke website for details! And thanks to Topy for organizing!
The invention of home computers, and especially the C64, plays a major role in the rise of the demoscene.
We were very excited when we were offered to show a documentary on the exciting period of the home computer explosion and Commodore role in the personal computer revolution. "8-Bit Generation: The Commodore Wars" is a Kickstarter funded movie and features many previously unreleased interviews on this fascinating epoch.
More information about the film is available on the official website www.commodorewars.com
We will show the documentary twice: Saturday at 10:00 on the big screen and on Sunday at 11:00 in the seminar area.
After presenting the tracker freaks with challenge after challenge in the previous years, we decided that this year weâre going back to basics. If you are an Evoke veteran, you might remember that until about 16 years ago, there was this thing called â4-channel compoâ. Well, this compo is coming back from oblivion â only now your tune has to be 100% ProTracker-compatible. Fire up your trusty Amiga, and if you donât have one, there is an excellent ProTracker clone by 8bitbubsy, which we will also use for playback, so that the audience can see your pattern wizardry in action. Read the detailed rules here.
For those of you who missed them already: the competition rules for Evoke 2016 are online!
Compared to last year´s rules there have not been many changes. Rather, we sweeped the dust off here and clarified some points there (e.g. where photo entries belong to).
In case you have a question, comments or suggestions feel free to contact us.Â
The missing tracked music compo
Tracking music gurus will probably miss their competition. Good news: it has not been canceled. We are still working on some new challenges for you.
The palette for the pixel graphics compo
For the pixel artists among you: just like last year we will provide a limited palette for you to work with. The 2016 palette can be found here. Start drawing already!
Good news first: the ticket prices for Evoke 2016 remain constant. Just like the last years we ask for 35 Euro.
In addition we offer a supporter ticket at 200 Euro for those of you who would like to help Evoke. It includes a printed invoice and a shirt once you arrive the party!
If you who prefer paying in advance: we teamed up with deinetickets.de to provide print@home tickets for you! Please notice that the paypal fees (1,03 Euro for the regular ticket) are added during the checkout process. The ticket sale has just started on our tickets page.
For those who are worried: it´s perfectly ok to buy your ticket at the door.
For those of you who prefer a good old email over browsing websites, facebook or twitter for getting the latest information on Evoke: We have relaunched our newsletter!
Simply point your browser at https://www.evoke.eu/subscribe, enter your email address and get the latest and greatest news right into your mailbox.
(For those of you who were once subscribed to our old newsletter: better try to subscribe again. Some addresses might have gone lost during the transition)
Right at lovely Revison we managed to put the Evoke 2016 website online.
The information is still very sparse but we are going to change this within the next month as the party approaches.
Meanwhile register for Evoke 2016 so that we, your friends and group mates know that you are coming.Â
See you in Cologne in August!
